Great art is a subjective experience, at least to a large degree.
Each of us are affected in a myriad of ways by the beauty of the things we experience and see in our lives. As I was re-watching Moana, Disneys island life adventure, I was struck by how much inspiration we can pull from the world around us.
When I hear people say the words I am bored, it truly hurts my heart. With access to the internet, nature, and vast amounts of history and culture, for us to say we are bored is the pinnacle of modern day ridiculousness.
Moana is a wonderful movie, its main character is both brave and unsure, incredibly strong in moments yet also filled with fear. She is a perfect embodiment of the human experience in this life, and all the aspects of ourselves we can bring forth into a moment.
From a stylistic design, it’s simply a gorgeous film. The islands, water, magic, and character designs are just lovely, and the music scores are wonderful, surprising even me as I usually dislike it when films rely too heavily on making their characters sing to express things.
Anyone looking for some inspiration for their own art or creative endeavors, or simply looking to be inspired by good voice acting and lovable characters, checking out Moana will be one of the better decisions you make today.
